Employees call At Home Nursing Care the best agency for caregivers
This holiday season, At Home Nursing Care held a luncheon and giveaway for our hard working and dedicated employees, earning praise for being the best agency for caregivers.
The management team dressed up in turkey costumes to host a Thanksgiving spread with turkey, mashed potatoes stuffing and pies.
Each caregiver is being given a pie for Thanksgiving, and two caregivers won a free Thanksgiving dinner for four in a raffle.
“I just want to thank you, this is the best agency for caregivers,” said one employee who has worked for five other homecare and assisted living companies.
Recognizing the dedication and professionalism of caregivers and nurses is part of the company’s culture and leads to more satisfied home health patients and homecare clients. This is why the homecare and home health agency has employees that have stayed with the company an average of over five years, with much less turnover than other home care and home health agencies.
Earlier this fall, the agency also invested $4000 into a software program that allowed each employee to earn a visa gift card of up to $2200, just for finishing 10 hours of training and staying employed through the rest of 2023.
31 employees took full advantage, earning the bonuses through a California grant of over $68,000.
“Often we can’t simply offer raises, as many clients pay out of pocket for home care and it’s very expensive. So we work hard to show our caregivers how much they are appreciated in other ways,” said At Home Nursing Care owner Lauren Reynolds.
The agency started in 2010 after Reynolds’ experienced the need for in home care directly. Her 58 year old mother that year needed in home care while battling terminal cancer.
After starting in San Diego County in 2010, the agency expanded it’s services in 2013 to the Los Angeles Area. Also, along with non-medical caregiving, the agency earned licensure for home health in 2012 and Medicare accreditation in 2019. The agency is also accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care and has maintained that accreditation since 2016.
Caregivers are in wide demand, and there is a shortage of quality care providers to care for the aging population in the U.S. Treating employees with consideration, respect and showing them that they are valued is important for expanding the direct care workforce and dealing with the burnout that can happen.
Caregiving can be a difficult job, with family dynamics coming into play, having to cope with behaviors linked to memory loss or loss of judgement, and it can be physically exhausting as well.
Reminding caregivers that they are doing meaningful work helps to counteract the challenges. Doing it several times a year in various ways is why employees call At Home Nursing Care the best agency for caregivers.
The winners of the Thanksgiving dinner for four were announced in a video posted on social media and also sent to all of the employees via text message. You can view the silly video here.
