FAQ: Myths vs Reality

Myths Vs. Reality: Paying for Long Term or San Diego In-Home Care
MYTH: Medicare or Medicaid will pay for it
REALITY: Medicare only pays for limited care after a hospitalization and only after certain requirements are met. For example, a Medicare Certified Home Health Agency may send a nurse for 3 visits, or a Home Health Aide for 2 visits over a 3-week period. Medicaid only pays for people who are very impoverished, typically with less than $2,000 of assets.
MYTH: I have health insurance that will pay for what I need.
REALITY: Health Insurance that most workers or families have for medical coverage typically covers only very limited long term care services related to acute health care treatments.
MYTH: I probably won’t need it, at least until I’m much older.
REALITY: C.N.A Long Term Care insurance reports that 40% of claims are made by people between the age of 18 and 65. The number of people using nursing facilities, alternative residential care places, or home care services is projected to increase from 15 million in 2000 to 27 million in 2050 (HHS, 2003).
MYTH: It won’t cost that much.
REALITY: Unfortunately, due to wage pressures, including increases in minimum wage and increasing regulation, the cost of quality in home care continues to rise. We work with families to create a plan that fits their budget and allows for the most efficient care possible. We also recommend that young people save now for anticipated long term care costs.

Frequently Asked Questions for At Home Nursing Care
How do I know if it's time for care for myself or a loved one?
Our FREE Home Care Assessment is a comprehensive evaluation to determine what areas of life might require additional support and care to make sure needs are being met.
We assess current care requirements, discuss daily routines, compile a list of prescriptions and medications, and perform a house safety inspection. Gathering information on these topics will help us to create a custom care plan for you or your loved one. This care plan will be carried out by our trusted caregivers.
How do I get started with San Diego Home Care?
You can submit the contact form at the bottom of the page or call our office to schedule a no-obligation, half-hour (30min), home care evaluation where we will discuss in detail the services needed and ask questions to help us get to know you or your loved one who is in need of care.

How much will home care cost?
What payment methods do you accept?
You can cover the cost of California Home Health Care with Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Checks, or ACH payments.
How do you select your caregivers?
Our new caregivers undergo a very thorough interview process: verifying references, conducting background checks, and performing drug tests. We intentionally look for caregivers whose passion is caring for others and who possess the values that are critical to elder care: compassion, experience, reliability, trustworthiness, and professionalism.
No-Cost, No Obligation "Needs Evaluation"
We are happy to send a specially trained team member to visit you at your home, hospital room or rehabilitation center for a no-cost "Needs Evaluation" to see what kind of care would be best for you or someone you love. This is a no-obligation meeting.
If you decide to hire us for quality in home care, the next step is that our Nursing Supervisor performs a thorough evaluation, creates a detailed "person centered" care plan and works with you to make sure all of your care needs are met.
