This year my husband, Brian, discovered podcasts! He’s an admitted technology hold out. When online shopping appeared, he vowed to never participate, even as I moved all of my shopping online. Until recently, he still drove checks to the bank. No, he’s not 75, he’s in his 50’s, but he’s old school, and I love that about him.
But when I told him that my apple account, which has thousands of songs and content, could be shared with family, he was all in. He’s not a “subscription” guy, it better be free.
So far, during this pandemic, when he’s not allowed to show houses in residential real estate with Compass, he’s listening to podcasts. Origins is one of his favorites, along with Joe Rogan, who is colorful to say the least.
This led me to think about the 24 museums who are now offering online visits, thanks to a partnership with google. As someone who had the joy of visiting Italy last summer, including seeing all of the beautiful art in Florence, I’ve felt a renewed interest in art.
Online, you can visit the Musee d’Orsay in Paris and view famous works from French artists who worked and lived between 1848 and 1914. Get a peek at artworks from Monet, Cézanne, and Gauguin, among others.
The J Paul Getty museum in Los Angeles has an online collection that features artists from the 8th Century to the 21st Century.
My personal favorite is the Uffizi Gallery, Florence, where my husband and I spent hours in a tour. As stated in Travel and Leisure Magazine, “This less well-known gallery houses the art collection of one of Florence, Italy’s most famous families, the de’Medicis. The building was designed by Giorgio Vasari in 1560 specifically for Cosimo I de’Medici, but anyone can wander its halls from anywhere in the world.”
