New vinyl holder provides easy way to keep car insurance and proof of registration organized in the glove box

As part of our licensing and accreditation, At Home Nursing Care obtains copies of employees’ driver’s licenses, car registration and proof of insurance.  When a document is nearing expiration, our software program alerts the employee and the office staff so that the newest version is kept on file.

Sometimes when office staff ask for updated documents, an employee will say, “It’s at home, I’ll send it to you tomorrow.”

But having those documents at home and not in the car is a problem.

According to the DMV, you must always carry evidence of insurance in your vehicle, and it must be provided when:

Requested by law enforcement.

You are renewing the vehicle registration.

The vehicle is involved in a traffic collision.

These requirements are in effect whether the car is being driven or is just parked on the side of the road.

If a driver gets a ticket, for example, and had insurance but didn’t have proof of the insurance, then the driver must show proof to the court or have the citation signed off by the DMV.  The court will ask the driver to pay a dismissal fee, then dismiss the charge.  This is a time-consuming process that is very avoidable.

Not having insurance at all is a bigger problem, of course, and the fine can range between $100 to $250 for a first violation, along with penalties and the risk that the car will be impounded.

To help our caregivers, nurses and clients always keep updated proof of insurance and registration in their vehicles, At Home Nursing Care is providing a custom document holder.  This made in the USA vinyl holder is a great way to protect the documents from tears or spills, while making them easy to find in the glove box when needed.

The folders, along with maintaining a backup digital copy of the important documents in the iCloud or on a phone or computer, will make sure our staff is fully compliant with California driving laws.
