At Home Nursing Care is proud to receive the most coveted award for ethics in business, the 2026 BBB Torch Award for Ethics

With over 5,000 nominations and 31 finalists announced, the staff of At Home Nursing Care cheered in delight when the BBB Mountain and Pacific South West revealed that the homecare and home health agency had won the tremendous award for ethics in business.

Along with 8 other winners, based on business size, At Home Nursing Care Founder and Administrator, Lauren Reynolds, thanked the BBB for this tremendous ethics in business recognition. She acknowledged the volunteer judges and dedicated the award to her caregivers, nurses, and all employees who “help our clients live a better life at home.”

Reynolds started At Home Nursing Care in 2010 after her mother’s own battle with terminal breast cancer. Her mother, Marykay, passed away at 58 in her own home thanks to the caregivers and nurses who attended to her. You can watch the inspiration for At Home Nursing Care on our YouTube Channel, here.

“My mother inspired me in her life and in her death,” Reynolds said at the BBB Awards Ceremony.

Recounting the daunting decision she made to retire from ABC 10News in 2010, where she had worked as a news reporter and anchor since 1995, to launch an in home caregiving and nursing agency, Reynolds explained, “I couldn’t have achieved it without tremendous support.”

At Home Nursing Care provides in home caregiving, private duty nursing, care management and Medicare Home Health Services across San Diego County and the West Side, South Bay areas of Los Angeles County. What makes At Home Nursing Care unique and deserving of this ethics in business award is the longevity of its staff.

“When the right people join our team, they tend to stay. Lynda who is here in the audience, has been with us since the company was six months old. Twenty percent of our staff have been with us longer than 10 years, like Jeannette, also here today.”

Reynolds thanked her father for teaching her to always tackle business challenges with courage and dignity, and she thanked her husband, Brian, for his unwavering support.

“Brian believes I can do anything,” she said on stage, “and sometimes, with his help, I actually can.”

The BBB Torch Award for Ethics is an award for ethics in business demonstrating that they operate with strong ethics, integrity, transparency, and trust. The panel considered all of the following criteria when deciding who the award recipients would be:

  1. Character — The character and ethical leadership of the owners/executives.
  2. Culture — Whether the company intentionally creates a culture of trust, empowers employees, and invests in them.
  3. Customers — How the company builds honest, transparent relationships and handles customer problems.
  4. Community — How the company gives back and contributes to its community

As part of their commitment to ethics in business, Reynolds demonstrated her volunteer and charity work in the community, including hosting an Alzheimer’s Association Support Group, supporting numerous local charities supporting veterans, seniors, pets and children. Her staff gets involved in these efforts, including volunteering annually to work at Dia Del Sol, supporting United Cerebral Palsy San Diego.
