Bolt’s Tall Tales

Bolt, a Certified therapy dog,  loves his job with At Home Nursing Care, giving comfort to San Diego home care clients.  The trained therapy dog provides a lick and loves to walk around San Diego with our home care clients. Therapy dogs are known to help calm anxiety and ease pain for home care clients.   They can lower blood pressure and stress levels and enhance our happy hormones.  Bolt brings a smile to our clients' faces, loves walking and as a result, he promotes exercise for our clients.  Furthermore, he offers unconditional love. On this day, Bolt visited one of our favorite San Diego home care clients.  They went for a walk and Bolt even wrestled around with a neighbor's dog.  It was fun.    Most especially, our client had a laugh and a nice walk in the beautiful San Diego sunshine. Bolt can't talk, but if he could he would say, "I love being a therapy doe for San Diego's home care clients.  The bosses let me do what I do best, make people happy." At Home Nursing Care offers a visit with our therapy dog to any home care client in San Diego who needs a friend. I am a fully certified therapy dog dedicated to helping my San Diego in home care clients, but today I learned something about myself - I am very afraid of balloons!   [caption id="attachment_1600" align="alignnone" width="552"] Bolt Visits His San Diego In Home Care Client![/caption] Why you ask? Well because they are big, shinny, and magically float around. Who wouldn’t be scared of them? Woof! I guess that is something I need to work on and become more comfortable with!  Many of my San Diego in home care clients have balloons that say happy birthday, or happy anniversary or get well soon.  They have loving family members who sometimes can't visit, so they send balloons instead.  I am just going to have to get used to those big, shiny floating things! Other than my introduction to balloons my day was lots of fun. It was filled with many visits and I made many new friends. Woof!...

Senior helper therapy dog "Bolt" loves to visit his home care clients.  He even tries to pretend her can write about it. "Today I visited my best buddy, Gordon, who loves our pet therapy dog services," says Bolt. These visits are part of the home care services provided to clients by At Home Nursing Care, a licensed and accredited provider of in home care and nursing. Therapy dogs are senior helpers by providing companionship, exercise and unconditional love.  Bolt loves to be pet, and Gordon loves to take long walks with bolt, which improves his stamina and health. "Gordon is a very nice client of At Home Nursing Care," says Bolt,"he always gives me a healthy treat and pets my head." Of course, being a senior helper is tiring and Bolt often has to take a nap while he is being pet by our clients. Hello, I am Bolt, a Certified Therapy Dog dedicated to helping seniors in need of a friend, or a lick, or a paw shake.   My booking agent, Lynda, sets up fun visits for me.  I mostly visit with seniors who are in need of a little puppy love because of illness or maybe because they are just getting up there in age.  I am 7 in dog years, but I act much older when I have my "uniform" on, a nice vest that tells everyone I am here to help. Today was a great day. I went to see my friends at Aviara Healthcare Center and the Carlsbad Senior Center. [caption id="attachment_1453" align="alignleft" width="224"] Graduation Day![/caption] I go into the Senior Center and greet everyone as they are leaving after lunch. Ruff! Everyone is so happy to see me.  For some reason, interacting with a pet is great for helping seniors in need because it lowers anxiety, even blood pressure.   I get my ears rubbed, my belly scratched and I even get a yummy snack once in a while. Ruff! I also went and visited all the sweet people in the memory care and rehab unit at Aviara. It’s so nice to see the smiles on their faces when I come in and visit. I wish I could stay there with some of them because I know they are lonely and need some doggie loving. Ruff! Makes me happy to know I’m bringing a “bolt” of sunshine into their lives if only for a few moments. It was so great to visit one of our client’s ,Mrs. M, who is in the rehab unit.   Mrs. M is usually taken care of in her own home by our wonderful caregiver...
